Steps

To strengthen the companies’ abilities to develop opportunities oriented towards improving their social, environmental and economic results, CEGESTI has developed a methodology to implement sustainable development in an integral way. Specifically, the methodology is focused towards two main elements:

  • Impact generation in the critical parameters of the company’s competitiveness (profits, market access, sales, resources use, processes efficiency, work and environmental stability, community projection).
  • Creation of organizational abilities. During the implementation process, training will be offered and activities will be carried out using tools which will enable the company to acquire needed skills and competences to continue managing integral improvement (social, environmental and economic aspects). This way the bases for a sustainable process within the company will be established.

The developed methodology by CEGESTI is presented in the following chart

These are the details of each one of the activities:

Sensibilization:  This is the beginners step in the Project. Information is given about the concept of sustainable development as to familiarize with the topic involved company staff.

Conceptualization:  A diagnosis is done with regards to the three sustainable development dimensions.

Strategic Plan: The Company is supported to make explicit its mission, vision and organization values so that it reflects its commitment to sustainable development. Also, strategic objectives in the economic, social and environmental dimensions – as well as indicators and improvement initiatives – are defined

Implementation and follow up: Training and technical assistance  is provided to support the company in the implementation of the action plan.  This way, knowledge transfer is realized and follow up oriented towards expected results is developed.

Indicators Monitoring:  A session is done to familiarize the company with the methodology to monitor indicators and identify new improvement opportunities.
